What are the Best Organic Skincare Products-Finding Safe Beauty Products

What makes a Product Organic?

Organic food products as defined by the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) are foods that are grown or raised without fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, antibiotics and growth hormones. The USDA gives an Official Certified Seal on food products in the USA that have the following :

usda organic
USDA Organic

1. Food that is produced using natural fertilizers such as manure, or compost to feed soil and plants.

2. Insects and birds are used to reduce pests and diseases.

3. Crops are rotated by tilling, hand, weed or mulch to manage weeds.

4. Animals are organically feed and allowed access to the outdoors.

5. Preventative methods such as rotational grazing are used to help minimize disease.

What is Organic Makeup?

The FDA currently does not regulate the term organic as it applies to cosmetics. However, with the increase in demand of consumers for more safe, natural and organic products, the FDA is moving forward in that direction.

Right now there are only a few ways you can find the best organic skincare products.

  1. Purchasing beauty products from companies that list the synthetic ingredients that are eliminated in their products.

  2. Becoming familiar with organic products that are used in beauty products.

Out of the two choices it’s much easier to follow companies that list the products such that are unsafe and not included in their manufacturing such as Milk Makeup and Sephora rather than trying to memorize all the the organic ingredients and check the labels.

However, there is one new ingredient that’s natural and organic and  making a grand introduction back into the beauty industry and that product is cannabis.

The cannabis that’s used in skincare products is derived from the Hemp plant via either the seeds or the flowers and stalks.

What Products to Avoid in Makeup and Skincare?

For a product to be natural and organic it should not contain any of the following ingredients:

1. Parabens

2. Sulfates

3. Phthalates

4. Fragrances

5. BHA

6. Triclosan

7. Propylene glycol

These products should be avoided in your makeup and skincare regimen because they are carcinogenic and have been linked to breast cancer. They also have endocrine disrupting properties that can cause reproductive problems. These products are derived from synthetic plastics and petroleum which can cause allergic reactions and skin irritation. Your search to find the best organic skincare products should start with the elimination of these ingredients.

High Beauty Cannabis Moisturizer and Facial Oil

High Beauty is an all natural organic beauty company offering some best organic skincare products. High Beauty believes in “reaching your highest potential in life”. Founded by Melissa Jochim who has already developed several of the best all natural organic skincare products and makeup, (Juice Beauty and Blossom Organics), High Beauty is one of the companies revolutionizing the beauty industry by adding Cannabis Sativa to their skincare line.

High Beauty uses a complete line of all natural, organic skincare products including Cannabis Saliva. The Cannabis Stativa used in High Beauty is not marijuana, but actually Hemp- seed oil, derived from the seeds of the Hemp plant. While Marijuana and Hemp are both a part of the Cannabis family but they are different plants.

The flowers of the Hemp plant contain CBD (cannabidiol) but only trace amounts of THC (tetrahydrocannabidiol). The flowers of the Marijuana plant contain THC. The seeds from the Hemp plant are different from the flowers and do not contain any CBD or THC. The Hemp oil seeds are beneficial to the skin because they contain Vitamins A, D and E and Omgea-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids.

Vitamin E is the most abundant fat soluble antioxidant in our skin. When applied topically it travels through the cell membranes into your skin’s layers and works as an antioxidant destroying free radicals. Topical Vitamin E is more effective than oral Vitamin E for skin benefits.

Vitamin A stimulates the cells that keep the skin firm and healthy down in the deep layers of your skin. It also helps with fine lines and wrinkles and is excellent for treating acne. Vitamin A is made up of organic compounds in the retinol family. Hemp seed oil is the only way you can get natural organic Vitamin A.

Vitamin D helps with skin cell turnover and regenerates new skin cells. Vitamin D is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory vitamin that protects the skin against fine lines and wrinkles and it can even reverse sun damage.

Omega-3 fatty acids help balance role the structure and appearance of the skin. There is some evidence that Omega-3 can prevent squamous skin cell cancer and decrease the effects of prolonged sun exposure.

Omega-6 helps with skin dryness and the barrier. Hemp seed oil is soothing to the skin and has a fast absorption rate and because of this it can improve acne and other types of skin inflammation conditions like eczema.

What are the best organic products for my skin?

Your skin will feel and look better with products that are organic and natural derived from plants, flowers, water and the earth rather than any plastic, synthetic, chemical products.

The best organic skincare products work better than synthetic products and are healthier for your skin because they are more deeply absorbed by your skin. Your skin is the largest organ in your body and facial skin absorbs more than any other area of the skin. The best organic skincare products do not contain parabens, pthahlates or sulfate. These ingredients have been used in the beauty industry for years and there is no doubt you have been exposed to some of these toxins in your lifetime.

The time to start using the best organic skincare products is now. High Beauty products contain a higher percentage of Hemp seed oil than other natural organic skincare products. However, deciding what is the best organic skincare product may not always come down to the highest concentration of ingredients. What works for one person as the best organic skincare product may not always work well for you. Making the switch to organic skincare products can help your skin because these products are working with your skin. Using the best organic skincare products means taking the step now to protect your skin against free radicals and sun damage.

Most of the organic skincare products do not contain SPF however it is still important to add SPF to your skin to protect it from the sun. The best organic skincare products are plant derived and have not been sprayed by fertilizer, pesticides or herbicides, which is what makes a product organic. The best organic skincare products also do not contain any synthetic ingredients in them.

The Sephora Clean Beauty Experience

The company, Sephora that carries makeup and skincare products can help you decide what the best organic skincare product is with their seal of Clean Seal of approval. ****

Shopping at Sephora can help you chose the best organic skincare product because the green clean seal at Sephora means that the product does not contain any sulfates, parabens, phthalates, BPA , Tricolosan or Formaldehyde.

High Beauty

High Five Moisturizer by High Beauty may be one of the best organic skincare products to hit the market, with the delivery of 20% Cannabis Saliva Seed Oil in their High Five Moisturizer 32% Cannabis Saliva Seed Oil in their High Expectations Facial Oil.

These formulations are the highest hemp seed oil concentrations to be introduced to the beauty market. How they will perform will need to be seen as they were just released. The reviews of these products so far have been mostly positive with the absorption rate being faster than other skincare products in both their High Five Moisture and High Expectations compared to other natural organic skincare products even with the consistency of both of them thick they both are quickly absorbed into the skin.

The pros to these products are the founder and her beauty expertise and experience in natural organic skincare products. She was actually an Esthetician before she started creating organic skincare lines so her knowledge makes these products valuable along with the high concentration of Cannabis Saliva Hemp seed-oil infused into these products.

The cons would be that these products are not available in smaller sizes and the prices are more on the expensive side if the product does not end up working for you. Also since High Beauty was introduced on the market in September 2018, the products are still new to the beauty industry. Also at this time there are only 2 skincare products available from High Beauty.

To find the best organic skincare products starts with knowing your skin type and making the decision now to incorporate these natural, organic products into your skincare regimen.

Cannabis High Expectations Facial Oil is applied nightly after your face has been cleaned, by warming a few drops in your hands and soothing over your face and your neck.

Hi, I’m Colleen, a Licensed Pharmacist and Holistic Health Advocate. I’ve been struggling with SIBO disease for many years and an important part of the treatment is removing toxins from anything that is applied to or consumed by my body. I currently follow a Paleo diet to reduce symptoms of abdominal bloating and distention. I follow as closely as I can. Sometimes my willpower is not strong enough and I cheat. Our skin is our body’s largest organ and our facial area has the most pores of any area on the skin. Everything applied to our skin and especially the facial area is absorbed. Green Organic Makeup takes the healthy, holistic lifestyle, and contributes updated information and product reviews on makeup and skincare products that are natural, safe and organic to provide awareness about alternatives to toxic makeup to add to the overall health of our bodies.

I recently decided it was okay to spend more on skin products. Most face creams and moisturizers last quite a while anyway.

It is truly important to not put on your skin things that you would not eat. I have used organic coconut oil for years. It’s good.

I see the value in the omega 3-6-9 fatty acids mix. Absence of perfumes makes these more useful too.

I would definitely try the products you’ve described in your article.

Reading your article, I realize that as a society we have to change many of our old beliefs and habits.
To take an example, you mention that sulfates are substances that should be avoided in organic cosmetics. However, we know that sulfates are responsible for producing the foam in the shampoo and for many people it is still difficult to accept that a shampoo can be useful without having to create foam.

That’s true.  Many of use are so used to the older chemical products with shampoo. It just takes using the more natural products and getting accustomed to them.

I never knew that there were so many choices regarding organic skincare at Sephora. My sister worked there for three years and loved all of their products. Her new hobby is demonstrating makeup on Instagram. I have been looking for a good present for her birthday and think the cannibis face oil might be the perfect one. I know she had used cannibis products in the past.

This is educative. I’ve been able to pick some things from this post. I’m a fan of everything that is organic. I presently own a small farm where I practice vegetable organic farming. Though as a man, I’m very conscious of my skin, especially my face. I have never thought of organic skin care product. However, with this enlightenment from your post, I would pay close attention to this. I know how beneficial medicinal cannabis is to health. I have an oily skin, does the high beauty facial oil works for my skin type?

    • admin

For oily skin the High Five Moisturizer is probably a better choice. That’s wonderful that you have an organic farm. We try to eat everything organic as well.

When it comes to taken care of our skin, we all want the best and that is why we go for organic products these days as they seem to be the people’s prefer choice due to it’s all natural ingredients use to producing it. I’m glad I came across this post because I have been looking for some natural organic products that I can use for my skin and lips and I’m glad I finally found some . Thanks

I absolutely love what you are doing!! Not only are you bringing this up in a positive light, but also educating your audience as well. I myself had no idea that make up could even cause those issues. I find your website is very user friendly and easy to use. Love how you went with the green colors as the background on the site. Complaints your Niche very well. Only thing that caught my eye that I would change, is on the top bar there are two area’s where you can click a phrase that says “green organic makeup”. Maybe if the one next to the CBD oil and Makeup be changed to About Us, or just a different title in general, would allow the user to know you can click on both titles. Other than that great work. Keep up the wonderful work.

Thank you for introducing to the benefit of the cannabis sativa. I have heard of the oil for pain relief but not the skin care regimen. I watched the video and love the owner goal for beauty. The name is very catchy as well High Beauty, love it. Have you tried any of their product?

I am interested in the serum. I want to know if it too oily or not or it just absorb to your skin. Do we use the serum 2 times a day or only night time? Do I need a sunscreen after as well if I use during the day time?

    • admin

Yes I am using the High Beauty Facial Oil now and I love it. It absorbs into your skin and doesn’t get in your hair like some face oils and serums do that sit on top of your skin.

Hi, I must say I found this post really informative.  I wasn’t aware of the use of cannabis saliva in makeup products and the benefits using these products can have.  I will be taking more care to check the ingredients in my makeup products going forward and trying to eliminate as many synthetic products as possible.  I am already a regular customer of sephora and think their clean beauty seal is excellent in helping you decide what products are best for your skin.  The products on offer from High Beauty sound great and very intriguing especially with the high percentage of cannabis saliva hemp that they contain.  Do you know if they plan on releasing any more products soon?

Thank you for sharing your article about organic skincare products. I’m doing some research because my wife has an allergy to most make-up out on the market. Not that she needs to wear any beauty products, but when she does, I want her to be happy and comfortable.

Anyways, we now have a much better understanding of what organic means. I thought the term organic only had to do with foods. Now I know better.

We’re finding cosmetic research to be daunting, synthetic ingredients listed in most products got us going down rabbit holes. Meaning I’m spending more time looking up the names of substance, to see if it’s ok for my wife to put on her skin.

We have not yet finished reading your post on the best organic skincare product and already feel at ease because you mentioned a line of cosmetics that my wife agrees is great. Milk Makeup. We’ll be reading that article next.

Propylene glycol is in just about all makeup we see out there. Why is that and doesn’t it just dry the skin out?

My wife tells me that hemp has been used in skin care product since the introduction of cosmetic merchandise.

Melissa Jochim, she’s beautiful, and her skin glows. Thank you for including the video. We were able to get a little more information about High Beauty Skincare products.

Interesting facts about vitamins. We now know natural organic Vitamin A can only be incorporated by Hemp seed oil. Are you saying the if you take vitamin A, you are ingesting hemp or a form of cannabis?

I really don’t see the price as being High. How much does a lady have to put on at one time? According to the description only a few drops of the High Expectations Cannabis Seed Facial Oil and a small amount of the High Five Cannabis Seed Facial Moisturizer.

Just what you are offing on your website in High Beauty Cosmetic Line is about a month supply, Right?

We are so sorry that we wrote a book and not a comment on your page. If you deleted it, we would understand. Just want to thank you for your time educating us on High Beauty, and cannabis.

    • admin

While the FDA classifies propylene glycol as safe, it’s actually used as an ant-freeze. I don’t know of any lady that would want to put propylene glycol on her face and it’s in so many cosmetics.

Cannabis naturally contains these vitamins and omega acids which is why it’s so beneficial to the skin.

I just received the High Beauty Facial Oil a few days ago and a few drops goes a long way. It looks like I will be getting at least a month or more out of this product.

I enjoyed your comment. Thanks for taking the time out to respond.

I have been looking for an organic skin line for a while now, Thank you for this. I started using a more natural skin moisturizer but it’s actually a lotion. I’ve tried coconut oil from Palmers and broke out SO I am back to looking for an organic solution. There is a definite difference between organic and natural. Most people do not know that so even though I am using something that is all natural, nowhere does it say organic. Have you personally tried any of the products? If so, what is your personal opinion on them?

    • admin

It’s unfortunate the FDA doesn’t regulate these products and companies can put whatever they want on the packaging. I believe that’s why the smaller cosmetic companies are doing so well. They care about what goes into their products and make them safe.

Yes, I just got some of the High Beauty Facial Oil in and I love it!

  11. Theresa

Oh, my gosh, I’m learning so much from your website!

I started getting sick from scented air fresheners and laundry products, followed by cleaning products. In my research about what these products contain, I learned that they are not regulated and that they contain many toxic chemicals that are not on the label. One fragrance can contain over 100 chemicals!

I’m really struggling to find a shampoo that doesn’t irritate my lungs and sinuses. Scented products have really been bothering me lately. I’m worried about the deodorant I have been using, too. I purchased a natural deodorant but it was very gritty and gave me a rash.

If you have recommendations for safe deodorants or shampoos, I would love to hear about them. Meanwhile, I appreciate your list of ingredients to avoid.

    • admin

Theresa, the fragrances can be so irritating to the skin. It’s much safer to use a neutral scented product and be safe without the side effects.  I will be posting an article on natural, organic deodorants soon. Due to the dangers of aluminum, the natural ones are a much better choice. I’m searching for one that really works on perspiration and I plan to do a product review once I find one.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post!

  12. Sylvia

I am so thankful for reading your article and the review on organic skincare.

For years now I am using nothing at all since I know how dangerous and full of chemicals almost every skin brand’s ingredients are. I looked in the last 18 month for natural skin care but this word “natural” is not a protected one and many skin brands are using it, but when you read more closely the ingredients it isn’t that natural at all.

Reading your article and to see there is actually “organic” skincare available made me so happy. I liked watching the video hearing the owner personally explain their product. I certainly can see myself starting with this brand “High Beauty”.

The price as well seems pretty reasonable too.

Thank you for sharing I also have saved your website.
